Being a port city, Trabzon has a multicultural structure as a city that has hosted many different civilizations and cultures from past to present. When this local texture, unique nature and unique crafts of the city come together, it creates a rich cultural structure. In the Trabzon Mercure project, we aimed to create an original design perspective in order to preserve these rich values of the region, to display them to their visitors and to reflect them to future generations with the modern understanding of the day.
We aimed to use the cultural values of the region together with modern elements in our designs that we started under the theme of handicrafts and rugs. While using the wood material, which is one of the building blocks of Trabzon’s architectural texture, in the paneling details on the walls, we created a rich harmony by using the terrazzo pattern, which is a modern and abstract reflection of the cobblestones, on the floor. We aimed to create a museum and exhibition-like space by using copper details in the accessories and architecture of the hotel and cross-stitch works in the corridors to draw attention to the handicrafts such as the local copper and cross-stitch and to exhibit the culture. Also, we have made the “Trabzon Kesanı” pattern one of the key points of our design as one of the most famous textures of the region. While using the “Keşan Pattern”, which we embroider on textile products and wall panels in a modern way, as an element that adds local dynamics to space, we enriched our cultural patterns with the use of Anatolian motifs as a reference to the historical texture of the region. We tried to make the colors, inspired by the nature of the region, and the feeling of life on every surface of the city of Trabzon, even in the hotel.
In the Trabzon Mercure project, which will take place in a city with so many unique cultural elements, we could not imagine a design not inspired by this local texture. Offering a comfortable, warm and modern environment to its visitors, Trabzon Mercure also creates an area that exhibits the values of the city. Bir liman kenti olan Trabzon, geçmişten bugüne bir çok farklı medeniyete ve kültüre ev sahipliği yapmış bir şehir olarak çok kültürlü bir yapıya sahiptir. Kentin bu yöresel dokusu, eşsiz doğası ve kendine has zanaatları bir araya geldiğinde zengin bir kültürel yapı oluşturuyor. Trabzon Mercure projesinde bölgenin bu zengin değerlerini korumak, ziyaretçilerine sergilemek ve gelecek nesillere günün modern anlayışıyla birlikte yansıtmak amacıyla özgün bir tasarım perspektifi kurgulamayı amaçladık.
El sanatları ve kilim teması başlığında yola çıktğımız tasarımlarımızda bölgenin kültürel değerlerini, modern öğeler ile bir arada kullanmayı hedefledik. Trabzon’un mimari dokusunun yapıtaşlarından olan ahşap malzemesini duvarlarda lambri detaylarında kullanırken, bir diğer taraftan arnavut kaldırımlarının modern ve soyut bir yansıması olan terazzo desenini zeminde kullanarak zengin bir uyum oluşturduk. Yöreye has bakır, kanaviçe gibi günümüzde azalan el işçiliklerine dikkat çekmek ve kültürü sergilemek adına, otelin aksesuarlarında ve mimarisinde bakır detayları, koridorlarında da kanaviçe çalışmalarını kullanarak müze ve sergi tadında bir alan oluşturmayı hedefledik. Ayrıca “Trabzon Keşanı” desenini bölgenin en meşhur dokularından biri olarak tasarımımızın kilit noktalarından biri haline getirdik. Tekstil ürünleri ve duvar panellerine modern bir biçimde işlediğimiz “Keşan Desen”ini, mekana yerel dinamiklerini katan bir element olarak kullanırken, anadolu motiflerinin de yörenin tarihi dokusuna referans verecek şekildeki kullanımıyla kültürel desenlerimizi zenginleştirdik. Bölgenin doğasından ilham aldığımız renklerin, Trabzon şehrinin her yüzeyindeki yaşam hissiyatını, otelin içinde dahi hissedilebilir kılmaya çalıştık.
Bu kadar fazla kendine has kültürel öğeye sahip bir şehirde yer alacak olan Trabzon Mercure projesinde, bu yöresel dokudan esinlenmeyen bir tasarım yapmayı hayal edemezdik. Ziyaretçilerine konforlu, sıcak, modern bir ortam sunan Trabzon Mercure, aynı zamanda şehrin değerlerini sergileyen bir alan oluşturuyor. Şehirde geçireceğiniz vakti özel kılacağınız bu deneyimi yaşarken, keyifle vakit geçirmenizi ümit ediyoruz.
